The Tongan Energy Road Map (TERM) project took another step toward achieving its ten years objective of reducing Tonga's dependence on fossil fuels, when Lord Ma'afu, Tonga's Energy Minister, signed an agreement with Martin Hiller, the Director General of the Renewal Energy and Energy Efficiency partnership (REEEP) for technical assistance to Tonga.
The signing of the agreement took place yesterday, January 17 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, during the 2012 World Future Energy Summit.
In a statement REEEP reported that Lord Ma'afu responded by saying, that, "the provision of technical assistance for the legislative review is fundamental to the energy sector reform for the Kingdom of Tonga." He was thankful for REEEP's commitment to helping Tonga achieve its objective for a clean energy future.
