About a thousand people gathered at the village of Houma, in central Tongatapu for the funeral of the late Baron Vaea of Houma, yesterday, June 13, in sunny but cool weather.

School children lined the road from the Vaea residence to the cemetery and the funeral procession was led by a military escort of 100 from the Tonga Defence Services, followed by a firing party and bearer party, the Royal Corps of Musicians, the clergy, the catafalque, the insignia bearers, the family of Baron Vaea of Houma, and the Baron's relatives and friends.
