United Church of Canada brings professionals to Tonga [1]

Faith, Wisdom, Courage, Knowledge and Quality of a Tongan Ministry encouraged Canadian Professionals to visit Tonga.
A group of Teachers, Farmers, Registered Nurse, Specialist health Care and Lab Technician, most of them belong to the United Church of Canada got to know Salesi and Amelia Takau while Ministering to them in Manitoba.
Rev. Salesi Takau of Maufanga has been working for the United Church of Canada for the last 7 years. Salesi graduated with a Masters of Theological Studies from Vancouver School of Theology, which is located at the University of British Columbia .
The United Church of Canada is the biggest protestant community. It has 13 conferences, 92 Presbyteries and approximately 3400 congregations if not more. The memberships together with adherences are approximately three millions.
In his ministry, he is a minister to St Andrews United Church. In his capacity as an administrator, Salesi has been elected last year by the National Presbyteries and affirmed by all 13 Conferences to be one of the 372 official Commissioners to the 40th General Council of the United Church of Canada which was held in Kelowna, British Columbia, August 2009. This
commitment will remain with him until 2012.
Salesi has also been elected as Minister and Chair Elect (Sea Vahefonua) for Northwest Ontario Presbytery for 2011 to 2012, he is a member of the Manitoba Northwest Ontario Conference's Executive Committee (2009 - 2012), a member of the Manitoba Northwest Ontario Conference Interview Board since 2005, and a member of the Manitoba Northwest Ontario Pastoral Relations committee.
The model of his faith, the quality of his tasks together with his wisdom convinced these Canadian and they are his dear friends to visit Tonga. Although they come as tourists, they wanted to help out with school supplies to Kolovai's Free Wesleyan elementary school.
While in Tonga, they will visit the Peace Corps head quarters, the USP center in Atele, Toloa and Queen Salote College, and Maufanga and hopefully attend a church service of their choices. United church of Canada, 17/02/10.
