PM Sevele meets Pope in the Vatican [1]

TONGA'S Prime Minister Hon Dr Feleti Sevele met the Head of the Catholic Church Pope Benedict XVI on May 20 in the Vatican City in Rome, Italy.

According to the Vatican Information Service Prime Minister Sevele met Pope Benedict and had cordial discussions focussing on the process of institutional reform in Tonga and its social and economic life. Discussions also touched on the important contribution the Catholic Church makes in various fields of human promotion.

Discussions also included particular reference to the political, commercial and environmental problems the Pacific Islands are facing in a spirit of close collaboration.

Accompanying the Prime Minister was his wife 'Ainise Sevele.
