Local business leaders gathered on Friday to take part in a mentors workshop as part of the Business Mentoring Programme which is being coordinated by the Tonga Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the New Zealand organisation, Business Mentors New Zealand.
The workshop was headed by New Zealand Business in the Community Trust Chairman, Dr. Grahame Craig. Dr. Craig has held accounting and management positions in a broad range of public and private sector organizations in New Zealand. He brings an incredible wealth of business knowledge to the programme to be conducted in Tonga which aims to assist small and medium local enterprises.
New Zealand based mentors will arrive in Tonga in two weeks time and will work closely with the local mentors over the next twelve months. Together they will assist local businesses in various areas including sales and marketing, general management, finance and accounting, administration, manufacturing, production and distribution, human resources, legal, international trade and export and technology.
This is the first stage of a long term programme that will utilize both international and local mentors. TCCI is excited to be facilitating this programme in Tonga and we encourage business owners to take full advantage of this exciting opportunity.
