Tonga to mark Int'l Women's Day on March 8 [1]

International Women's Day in Tonga in Tonga on March 8 is being supported by the Chinese Embassy in Nuku'alofa with sponsorship of radio and television programmes run by the Women and Development Centre of the Prime Minister's office.
The First Secretary of the Chinese Embassy, Nuku'alofa, Mr Wu Kesheng presented Vake Blake, the Senior Assistant Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office with a $1000 pa'anga cheque on February 28.
The Chinese financial contribution was to support the commemoration of the International Women's Day, by the Centre on March 8. Vake said that the money would be used to sponsor radio and television programs to be held from March 3 ... 8.
The theme for this year's commemoration is Gender Beyond 2005, focusing on military security, women's economic development, the impact of disaster on men and women, and Human Rights. Vake said that they would invite people from Government and Non Government Organisations to talk on the four issues.
Mr Wu Kesheng said that the Chinese Embassy would continue to contribute annually to the commemoration of the International Women's Day in Tonga. He said that the program contributed to social progress and women's development in Tonga.
