Court of Appeal 2010 begins in Nuku'alofa [1]

The Tonga Court of Appeal 2010 Session began at the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court on July 5 and will run for two weeks, ending with the delivery of judgements on July 14.
Presiding judges are Mr Justice Michael Moore, Mr Justice James Burchett, Mr Justice Peter Salmon and Chief Justice Anthony Ford as chairman.
An initial 17 cases were put down to be heard in this year's session but another criminal appeal case submitted late is also to be heard, Kusitafu against the Crown.
On Tuesday, July 6 the court was to hear appeals made by Fangupo and Fa'aoa against lashing sentences imposed on them for theft and escaping custody in Vava'u earlier this year.
