TONGA'S ANZ Bank staff were the first to step out in new uniforms yesterday, ahead of the bank's other branches in 32 countries around the world.
ANZ Tonga General Manager Arthur Hubbard and 56 staff at the ANZ Ma'ufanga branch showcased their new uniforms, which also gives staff in Tonga the options of wearing the world wide ANZ uniform or a Pacific shirt and a tupenu.
Last year, ANZ Tonga was the first to launch the new ANZ logo because of its time zone and Tonga was the first country to launch its new global uniform, he said.
"What we are trying to do is to have an unformed look for ANZ, so if you go in to Tonga, PNG, Fiji, England or Tokyo the look and feel is very much part of it," he said.
The wardrobe for Tonga cost over $40,000 and includes more than 65 separate pieces from dresses, suits, shirts, ties even belts from Melbourne.
ANZ Vava'u branch of six staff also wore their new uniforms today at their Neiafu branch.
ANZ has been operating in Tonga since 1994 and now employs over 80 staff in Tongatapu and Vava'u.
