Speaker to answer illegal firearm charge in April [1]

THE new Speaker of the House Lord Lasike is set to appear at the Fasi Magistrate's Court on April 19 for a Preliminary Inquiry on one count of possession of an illegal firearm.

Police prosecutor Mema Latu said the noble was already charged last year for the illegal firearm offence but the case was adjourned numerous times.

Meanwhile, coming up next week on January 24 are cases of two other nobles who were separately charged in December 2010 with illegal firearms and illicit drug offences, in unrelated cases.

Lord Tu'ilakepa who is charged with five counts of possession of illegal firearms, ammunitions and illicit drugs is set to appear on January 24, 2011 in closed chambers, at the Fasi Magistrate's Court.

A date for the Preliminary Inquiry of his case would be then set to begin at the Magistrate's Court.

Another case against Lord Tu'iha'ateiho who is charged with one count of possession of an illegal firearm is also set for January 24 at the Supreme Court for arraignment.
