AIR New Zealand's Tuesday service between Auckland and Los Angeles via Nuku'alofa and Apia was disrupted yesterday, January 25 due to Cyclone Wilma.

The flight did not arrive last night due to the cyclone but has now been rescheduled to arrive in Tonga this afternoon, Wednesday.

Air New Zealand office in Nuku'alofa said its NZ26 flight has been rescheduled to depart Auckland at midday today arriving in Tonga at 3:00pm. It then departs Tonga at 4:00pm for Apia and onward to Los Angeles. This would be the last flight for the Tonga-Apia LA service which is ending this month.

At the same time another Air New Zealand flight NZ973 initially scheduled to depart Tonga for Auckland at 11:30am this morning is rescheduled to depart Tonga at 1am tomorrow morning, Thursday January 27.

Meanwhile, Pacific Blue airline was not affected by the cyclone since their twice-weekly flights to and from Auckland are on Mondays and Thursdays.

Tonga's Fiji service provided by Air Pacific was also not disrupted since their Tuesday flight from Nadi arrived in Tonga at 8:25am yesterday morning and departed 9:25am to Nadi.

Ferry

Meanwhile Tonga's inter island ferry MV 'Otuanga'ofa weekly service on Monday was cancelled due to the cyclone.

The Friendly Island Shipping office said today, the weekly service is now rescheduled with the ferry departing Nuku'alofa at midnight tonight for Ha'afeva, Pangai and Neiafu.

It returns to Nuku'alofa on Saturday, January 29.
