Man denies $90,000 bank fraud [1]

A former male employee at the ANZ Bank, Tonga, who is accused of fraudulently converting over $90,000 pleaded not guilty to 10 charges, when appearing the Supreme Court in Nuku'alofa on Friday, April 8.

Siosaia Sefesi (30) who appeared before Justice Robert Shuster elected to be tried by judge and jury.

His case was adjourned to May 24, 2011 for a direction hearing in which his trial date would be set.

It was alleged that from December 2009 to June 2010 at various times the defendant fraudulently converting various amounts totalling $90,000 for his personal use while employed at the ANZ Bank.

The defendant was released on bail until May 24.
