A father from Lapaha has been charged for manslaughter by negligence after his nine year old daughter fell from the back of a vehicle he was driving on April 14, and died from head injuries.

Acting Police Commissioner Taniela Faletau in the Police Weekly Crime Report on April 19, said that the girl fell from the back of her father's van at Lapaha. She was a passenger together with others. He said a medical report confirmed the girl died from head injuries sustained when she fell.

Police investigations continue into the death.

This brings the road deaths in Tonga to three starting from January 1 to April 15, 2011.

There were two deaths during the same period in 2010.
