A 19-year-old Haveluloto boy who was found dead on Good Friday, April 22, had taken his own life by hanging, police stated on April 27.

Acting Police Commissioner Taniela Faletau said an inquest was conducted on April 23.

This was the third suicide for 2011. A total of 11 suicides were reported in 2010.

He also said there was a drop in crime from April 18-24 with 63 complaints compared to 77 the previous week, with a majority of the crimes committed in the Nuku'alofa area.

Disturbance

At the same time on the first day of the Tonga College Inter College Athletics Competition on Tuesday April 21, the police arrested and charged 11 students from Tonga College and Liahona High School for causing public disturbance.

The Acting Police Commissioner said apart from these incidences public order was satisfactory at the Teufaiva Outdoor Stadium during the three-day sports competition.
