14-years jail for rapist [1]

A 31-year old man was sent to jail for 14-years for raping and indecently assaulting a Tongan woman at Fungamisi in Vava'u on May 12, 2009.
Selino Latu of Fungamisi, who pleaded not guilty to five charges that included three of rape and two of indecent assault, was found guilty by jurors on Monday, May 16.
He was sentenced by Justice Robert Shuster on May 17 at the Vava'u Supreme Court to serve 14 years imprisonment to start immediately at Ha'alefo Prison in Vava'u.
The jury trial began on May 10 with Semisi Lutui, as Crown Prosecutor.
Earlier, on May 9, Justice Shuster sentenced a convicted man to 12 years imprisonment for the rape, assault and housebreaking committed against a French woman in January 2010, in Neiafu.
