Children dance on Kindy Day 2011 [1]

KINDY Day 2011was celebrated by children ages three to five with colourful traditional dancing at the Tonga Institute of Education, Pahu on Saturday May 21.

More than hundred children from 23 Kindergarten schools from throughout Tongatapu were dressed for the occassion, performed traditional dances, Tau'olunga and Ma'ulu'ulu to mark their day. Parents and pre-school teachers also participated in the celebration.

The guest of honour, the Deputy Director of Education Ponapate Taunisila reminded parents and teachers the importance of early childhood education during the education process of children.

Early childhood education was introduced into the Tongan education system in 1974.
