Lord Tu'i'afitu chairs reply committee [1]

FOLLOWING the opening of the first session of Tonga's reformed parliament on June 2, a committee met today to form a reply to the Speech from the Throne made by King George Tupou V.
The Deputy Speaker Lord Tu'i'afitu told Matangi Tonga Online today that the committee is chaired by himself and consists of five other members of parliament namely the Minister of Education Hon Dr 'Ana Taufe'ulungaki, the Minister of Police Hon Dr Viliami Latu, Lord Tu'ilakepa and Sione Taione.
He confirmed that the first sitting of the parliament would begin at 9:00am on Tuesday, June 7, following Monday's public holiday.
On the first agenda of the house is the submission of parliament's reply to the speech from the throne to be passed by the House, before other matters.
"At 2:00pm on the same day, I and two other members will personally deliver the reply to the king," he said.
The Tongan Government's Budget for 2011-12 is expected to be submitted on Tuesday, June 7 to the House for deliberation.
