Nuku'alofa, Tonga

TWO talented Tongan singers Olivia Kolo (24) and Roslynn Mahe (37) have made it into the second round of Avon's first Online Global Talent Search and need all the support they can get from their Tongan fans.

They have been chosen from over 6,000 contenders in Avon's online search. The program was launched in December 2010 when Avon Voices invited women from around the world to join in celebration of the company's 125th anniversary.

Roslynn Mahe.

Roslynn Mahe (37) a singer of Tongan- Samoan heritage was born in New Zealand and Olivia an Australian-born Tongan are among the 75 contenders entering into Round Two.

Olivia Kolo.

In this round no more than 18 semi finalists will be determined by public online voting and the successful finalists will be announced on July 1, 2011.

Both songstresses have uploaded their Round Two video performances, with Olivia singing 'Because You Loved Me'

While Roslynn sings 'I Look to You'

Public voting for round two is currently open until June 20.

Musical

Both women grew up in musical families and started singing from an early age.

Olivia, the youngest of ten children born to Tongan parents - the late Na'apangai Kolo and mother Luseane Fisi'ihoi, was part of a family band Kolo Band and performed at various private and public functions from a young age.

A local talent well known in the Newcastle music circuit, Olivia is currently studying for her Bachelor of Music at the Australian International Conservatorium of Music in Sydney.

Roslynn also started signing at a young age in New Zealand and performed on different television shows. She moved to Australia where she was finalist in Australia's X-Factor in 2004, before moving to London and entering the Avon General Public Singing Competition.

"I'm now one of 75 contenders, but it's going to be a brutal cut down to 17 to get to the Semi-Finals in L.A, so I need more support than ever. I could do with the votes from my fellow-Tongans back home and overseas. So Proud to represent Tongan woman in this competition!" said Roslynn.

Anyone can vote online but they must first register their name. The voting process is a bit difficult. Roslynn advised the easiest way to find your favourite singer is to go to the search box at the top of the Avon pages, and type in the name to bring the profile picture up.

"Click on that to my profile page, then click on the video and right underneath the video is the yellow button with VOTE on it and then you can leave a comment and also click on the heart button to FAVOURITE as well," she said.

The Avon Voices is searching for two extraordinary female singers to record a professionally produced album. Finalists will perform on November 2, in front of a live audience at the Avon Foundation Gala in New York City.
