Tongatapu MP dies [1]

KAVEINGA Fa'anunu (59) the Tongatapu no. 9 People's Representative passed away last night, July 24, at Vaiola Hospital after a long illness.

Members of the Fa'anunu family confirmed this afternoon that Kaveinga passed away at 8:39pm last night after being hospitalised for sometime.

Kaveinga attended the opening of the Legislative Assembly in June, but it was evident that his battle with head and neck cancer was in an advanced state and he was not able to attend parliamentary proceedings.

Kaveinga was elected to represent Tatakamotonga as the Tongatapu No. 9 People's Representative to the Tonga Legislative Assembly in the November 25, 2010 parliamentary election.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 27.
