Five accused of bank robbery apply for bail [1]

FIVE men appeared at the Magistrate's Court in Nuku'alofa today, September 12 charged with conspiring to commit robbery in relation to the armed hold-up and robbery of thousands of pa'anga from the Westpac Bank of Tonga branch at Ma'ufanga on September 5.
Four suspects who were arrested by police on September 6 along with a fifth accused, appeared before Chief Police Magistrate Folau Lokotui . The five were Sosefo Moala, 'Aisea 'Iongi, Teau Faletau, Ta'ufo'ou Fale'ofa and Sione Vaitaiki.
Submissions for bail were filed by their Counsel Laki Niu, Sifa Tu'utafaiva and 'Ofa Pouono.
However, a decision on their bail application will be delivered tomorrow afternoon, September 13 in the lower court.
