TONGA'S Legislative Assembly resumed sitting today, October 4, after an adjournment that allowed members of parliament to attend a three-day Pacific Ombudsman meeting in Vava'u last week.
The Parliament's Office in Nuku'alofa said that yesterday October 3 members of parliament led by the Speaker of the House Lord Lasike had joined the celebration to welcome back the 'Ikale Tahi players.
The members of parliament were understood to have been observers at the Pacific Ombudsman Alliance meeting held in Neiafu from September 27-29, in which the House paid for all their travel expenses.
Adjournments
The Parliament has adjourned quite a few times since they broke for their two-weeks long Parliamentary tour from July 4-15. In August parliament adjourned twice to allow Standing Committees to work on matters referred for them, before they are resubmitted for the House to consider.
After a three weeks break parliament resumed on September 19 for only a week before being adjourned from September 27-29 to allow members of parliament to attend the meeting at Vava'u.
Yesterday parliament adjourned for a day to welcome the national rugby team.
