Prince Mired of Jordan visits Tonga [1]

HRH Prince Mired Bin Raad Al-Hussein of Jordan arrived in Tonga on October 5 for a three days visit seeking Tonga's support on the Anti-Personnel Mine Convention.

The Prince as special envoy, leads a three member delegation from the Secretariat of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

The Anti Personnel Mine Ban is also called the 1997 Convention on the Prohibition of the use, stockpiling, production and transfer of Anti-Personnel Mines.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a media statement on October 5
said that in Nuku'alofa, the Prince would meet the Prime Minister Lord Tu'ivakano, Cabinet Ministers and the Acting Commander of the Tonga Defence Services Capt. Toni Fonokalafi.

He would also make a special visit to the Tonga Red Cross headquarter on the morning of Friday October 7.

Meanwhile, it is understood that HM King George Tupou V has left Tonga on his way to the United States.
