Woman dies after being hit by van in driveway [1]

A 62-year-old woman died at Vaiola Hospital after being hit by a van in the driveway of her home at Houmakelikao on October 5.
Acting Police Commissioner Taniela Faletau said today that police investigation revealed that 65-year-old husband was driving their Pajero van through the driveway of their home when the wife suddenly crossed in front of the vehicle to stop their dog.
The vehicle did not stop but hit the deceased. She was rushed to Vaiola Hospital but died in the evening of the same day due to internal injuries.
Taniela said the Police investigation into the incident was continuing.
Crimes
Crimes increased last week to 52 criminal offences compared to the 49 offences reported the previous week.
Theft and common assault were the most reported criminal offence with 15 crimes each, followed by 11 housebreaks, three wilful damage, two indecent assaults and one of obtaining by false pretence.
Central Nuku'alofa Police station received the most crimes with 38 recorded while Mu'a Police station recorded seven offences, four at Nukunuku, two at Neiafu in Vava'u and one at the Vaini Sub station.
