FIJIAN hip hop crew, BSQ are set to get the crowds jumping at this year's Fest'Napuan music festival in Vanuatu as the winners of the Pacific Break 2011 competition after their slick dance track'Rue Ele Ele remix' was selected as the winning song.

BSQ vocalist George Wasile, interviewed this afternoon on Radio Australia said, "My message is never give up if you have a dream you need to pursue it. We weren't looking to win we just love music - so this one goes out to all the local musicians out there".

The three judges tasked with the difficult job of selecting this year's Pacific Break winner were presenter of Roots'n All on Triple J, Sarah Howells, music journalist and a founder of Bellingen Global Carnival music festival, Seth Jordan and Tongan-Australian orator and songwoman, SistaNative.

The panel were impressed with all the amazing Pacific Break entries but couldn't look past BSQ's island dance groove with the 'Rue Ele Ele remix'. "This is the song that made the island girl in me just turn it up and dance around the house," remarked Pacific Break judge SistaNative.

Also earning top marks from the judges was the strong rock anthem'Fire' by Solomon Islands group Red Star Unit, the socially conscious reggae track "Right Teachings" by Vanuatu's Masamp Crew, the beautiful harmonies and love story sung in "Foki Mai" by Tongan duo Jamie and DJ Simz and the jazzy Latin inspired sounds of "Koma" from PNG band Soulstein.

As winners of Pacific Break 2011, BSQ will fly from hometown Suva to Vanuatu to perform at Fest'Napuan, a 4-day music festival in Port Vila commencing on the 9th of November. The festival's theme this year is "Unite and Fight Against Corruption" inspired by winners of the Anti Corruption Fair Play Youth Voices competition and Pacific Break 2010 & 2011 entrants,'Young Life' from Vanuatu.

Pacific Break is a music competition dedicated to discovering the best unsigned original musical artists the Pacific has to offer. Operated by Radio Australia it is the only pan-Pacific music competition spanning 5 times zones and approximately 24 countries.

BSQ are now the fourth Pacific Break winners, following in the footsteps of previous winners III Kings from Honiara, Solomon Islands in 2010, Emmanuel Mailau from Sabama, Papua New Guinea in 2009, and 26 Roots from Santo, Vanuatu in 2008.

Songs from BSQ and all the finalists will be included on a compilation Pacific Break CD due out early next year. Radio Australia, 13/10/11.
