Royal Corps of Musicians celebrate Tonga National Day in China [1]

Celebrating the Tonga National Day 2011 in Beijing on October 28, with a cultural showcase of music and a dinner, also marked the 13th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tonga and China, the Tongan Ambassador to China, HE Siamelie Latu said.
The Royal Corps of Musicians, who were visiting Beijing, performed brass band music, along with dances, such as the Ma'ulu'ulu, Kailao, and a Tau'olunga.
The Royal Corps of Musicians were in China for the Nanchang International Tattoo from October 21-26. To allow them to perform at Tonga's National Day celebration, the date was moved forward from November 4 to October 28. They also celebrated the 13th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, established in1998.
The Tongan Embassy in Beijing stated that the celebration was attended by high-ranking officials from the Chinese government, including Miss Wu Xi, the Deputy Director General of the Department of North America and Oceania; Mr Wu Wei, the Executive Chairman of the China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation International Eco-Tech Cooperation Committee; and Senior Colonel Su Rong Commander 6 Armed Division. Also attending were the ambassadors to China of Fiji, New Zealand and Micronesia.
A 13th anniversary cake was cut by Hon. Salote Maumautaimi Tuku'alo, and the Guest of Honour, Miss Wu Xi.
