Tonga's Galaxy Queen Pageant 2011 will be crowned this evening, December 2, at the end of a colourful three day contest that is living up to its reputation of fantasy and fun.

Six local contestants made their first appearance at the International Dateline Hotel, on Wednesday November 30 for judging in two categories, "International Wear" and "Coconut Creation."

Last night contestants were judged on three more categories, including a "Red Creation" to mark the World HIV/Aids Day, "Condom Creation" and a Talent Competition - a highlight of the annual pageant.

Tonight contestants will be judged on their Galaxy Wear and Evening Gown, with the crowing of the new Miss Galaxy Queen 2011-12.

The reigning Miss Galaxy Queen 2010-11 is Miss Tararina Brown.

The Tonga Leitis Association Founder Joey Mataele, acknowledged the public's support of the annual event, which raises funds for their various programs, including scholarship for leitis to return to school.
