Tonga's 2011-12 Miss Galaxy Queen title was won by 21 year old Venus Brown of 'Ahau who entered the contest as Miss Appraxus New Zealand.
Venus was crowned, at the International Dateline Hotel on December 2, by the guest of honour, Lady Robyn Tu'ivakano and Miss Galaxy Queen 2010-11 Miss Tararina Brown. Venus won a $700 cash prize, and a return ticket from Tonga to Sydney.
First runner up was Miss Leilani who won a cash prize of $500 pa'anga, while second runner up Miss Erika Mogasbi, won $300.
On the final night December 2, the six contestants were judged on their outrageous Galaxy Wear, Evening gown and Stage Interview.
Galaxy is an annual event, usually held mid-year, but this year it was moved to December to coincide with the 16 Days of Activism marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, that began in Nuku'alofa on November 25.
Organised by the Tonga Leitis Association, led by Joey Mataele, the three days pageant from November 30 to December 2, lived up to its reputation and provided fun and entertainment by showcasing outrageous costumes.
The event was also a platform to raise public awareness in Tonga to stop discrimination against the fakaleitis, who are active members of the society.
