Preliminary inquiries set for April [1]

The Managing Director of Shipping Corporation of Polynesia Ltd John Jonesse who is charged with forgery is set to appear for his Preliminary Inquiry in the Magistrate's Court on April 23, the Police Prosecutor Mema Latu confirmed yesterday.

He said that the Ashika Captain Makahokovalu Tuputupu would also appear at the Magistrate's Court for the start of his Preliminary Inquiry on April 27. The captain is charged with five counts of taking a passenger ferry out to sea, knowing that it was unseaworthy.

Meanwhile, Tu'i Uata of Uata Shipping, who is charged with bribery is set to have his Preliminary Inquiry at the Magistrate's Court on April 7.

The prosecutor also confirmed that the case against Lord Dalgety the Company Secretary for the Shipping Corporation of Polynesia Ltd is submitted directly to the Supreme Court. It is set that his case would be called on May 26 for arraignment.
