TNWFC cancels Tsunami warning for Tonga [1]

The Tsunami Warning in force for Tonga since 1.15 am this morning was cancelled by the Tonga National Weather Forecasting Centre TNWFC at 12.30 pm today, February 28.
According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre (NOAA) there was a measurement of small Tsunami Wave Activity at Nuku'alofa at 20:24 UTC (9:24am local time, Sunday 28 February) of 0.10m or 0.3ft.
However, there have been no reports of damage on Tongatapu. No increase in the tide was noticeable by residents on the coast at Kanokupolu, or on the low lying islands off Tongatapu.
The rumors of high waves damaging some of the low lying islands in the Vava'u Group was untrue, the police in Neiafu, Vava'u, have confirmed.
In the South Pacific Islands the highest level for the tsunami wave activity measured today was at Pago Pago, American Samoa, 0.70m or 2.3ft.
In the North Pacific, at Kahului on Maui, the tsunami wave activity was recorded at 0.98m or 3.2 ft, according the reports from the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
