SCP Chairman summoned to Ashika inquiry [1]

'Alisi Taumoepeau the Chairman of the Shipping Corporation of Polynesia Ltd., appeared for the first time at the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the sinking of the MV Princess Ashika this morning and is set to give evidence on January 18, 2010.
'Alisi, the Chairman and former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, was served summons to appear before the commission and provide documents related to the Ashika.
She was followed by the Minister of Finance and Planning, Hon 'Afu'alo Matoto, who confirmed to the Commission that the submission to purchase the vessel to the Tongan Cabinet was made by himself and the former Minister of Transport, Paul Karalus. In his capacity as Minister of Public Enterprise he understood that its Secretary had submitted documents relating to the Shipping Corporation of Polynesia Ltd.
The Minister was stepped down to return on January 22, 2010 to give detail evidence.
