Established Japanese artist teaches at 'Ahopanilolo [1]

AN established Japanese artist, Ms Anri Kambe who exhibited some of her works in Sydney on October 2008 is now an art teacher at the 'Ahopanilolo Technical College.

Anri came to Tonga under the Japanese overseas volunteer service and has been teaching at 'Ahopanilolo since November last year. Her two years volunteer service in Tonga will be completed before the end of next year.

At 'Ahopanilolo, Anri teaches Print Art, her speciality. She graduated with a Masteers in Art, specialising in Print Art from the Tokyo Gakuge University.

With regards to the exhibiting of her work in Sydney, Anri said that the theme for the exhibition was 'Hanga from Japan', "which is basically mean Japanese printing where an art curator introduced the new Hanga, an adaptation of traditional Japanese and modern examination." She said that her work that was exhibited in Sydney was made of woodblock printing titled family.


 


 


 


 


 





On Wednesday, 28 October, the Japanese Ambassador to Tonga HE Mr Yasuo Takase visited 'Ahopanilolo and pledged the support of his government to vocational training of youths in Tonga particularly at the 'Ahopanilolo Technical College where students are taught art and cooking.
