The Ha'apai No. 2 People's Representative to the Tongan Parliament, Sione Teisina Fuko has been appointed as the new Minister for Revenue Services.

The appointment of Sione Teisina Fuko was announced by the Prime Minister, Dr Feleti Sevele this morning.

A Press statement from the PM's office said that His Majesty in Privy Council has assented to the appointment of Sione Teisna Fuko as the Minister for Revenue Services and he will be formally appointed by the Lord Chamberlain later today at his residence at Ma’ufanga by the Lord Chamberlain.

The Revenue Services Department was formerly one of the portfolios under the Hon Minister for Finance as the Chief Commissioner of Revenue.

The new Minister for Revenue Services’ responsibilities includes the Revenue Services Division, Customs & Trade Division, and Technical Services Division. He will also be responsible for administering the Consumption Tax Act.

Hon. Teisina Fuko will continue to be the No. 2 PR for Ha'apai while being a Cabinet Minister.

Sione Teisina Fuko 59, was first elected into the Legislative Assembly in 1984. He has been a member of the Assembly for 17 years and is currently serving his sixth term.

Sione Teisina Fuko is married to Seketi Longalei Fuko of Ma’ufanga. They have 6 children and 6 grandchildren.
