The Preliminary Inquiry of a father charged with the murder of his four-year-old son at Popua earlier this month, will begin on October 7 at Fasi Magistrate's Court.
The accused, Sione Talia'uli (30), of Popua, appeared before Police Magistrate Samiu Palu this morning represented by Mele Fifita for legal counsel Sifa Tu'utafaiva.
Police confirmed that the child, who was rushed to Vaiola Hospital, died on September 9 from heavy bruises.
The inquiry in the Magistrate's Court will determine whether there is a prima facie case against the accused, and if so the case will be submitted to the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court for trial.
The accused, who first appeared in the Magistrate's Court on September 14, remains in police custody.
