2005 Parliamentary Election in March [1]

Tonga's 2005 Parliamentary Election will be in March, and the registration date for candidates will be one day in January, according to Pita Vuki, Tonga's Senior Electoral Officer.
Pita said that the exact date has not been set but the month for the registration of candidates and the election has been confirmed. He said that there has been no change to the Parliamentary Electoral Policy of government, even though next year's election will be different from previous election, because for the first time elected members will be eligible to be appointed as Cabinet Ministers.
Pita said that registration fees for candidates to the 2005 Parliamentary Election remain at $200 pa'anga.
It is anticipated that next year's Parliamentary Election will be a popular contest.
The Coconut Wireless has it that some Cabinet Ministers who were forced to resign from Cabinet will try and make a come back and stand for election.
