Free trading between the USA and Australia will come into force on 1 January 2005.

A Press Release from the Australian Ministry for Foreign Affairs said that the final agreement was reached in the early hours of November 18 in the Chilean capital, Santiago. The Australian Trade Minister Mark Vaile and an US Trade representative Robert Zoellick agreed that the Free Trade Agreement will come into force on January 1 next year.
