Tonga ties with Cyprus [1]

Tonga has further expanded its diplomatic relations to the Mediterranean island of the Republic of Cypus following the signing of a Joint Communiqu é in Canberra on Monday, June 22.
Prince Tupouto'a Lavaka, Tonga's resident High Commissioner in Canberra and HE Mr Yannis Iacovou the resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus signed the joint communique at Pouono, the Chancery of the Tonga High Commission.
This signified the beginning of the diplomatic relations between the two countries who are both willing to develop and strengthen friendship and cooperation in political, economic, social, humanitarian and other fields that are matter of interest to both countries.
The signing ceremony was attended by Diplomatic Head of Missions from some of the Pacific Island countries including, HE Mr Charles Watson Lepani, the High Commissioner of Papua New Guinea; HE Mr Victor Samuela Ngele the High Commissioner of the Solomon Islands; Mr Kamlesh Kumar Arya, Acting High Commissioner of Fiji and Mr Luciano Fonoti the Counsellor of Samoa.
