Constitutional and Electoral Commission completion of its Niua public forum [1]

The Constitutional and Electoral Commission is pleased to announce the successful completion of the public forum with the Niua people here in Tongatapu.
This was held last Friday, June 19 at the Free Wesleyan Church Hall in Longolongo. The meeting was chaired by Hon. Vaea attended by estate holders, Hon. Tangipa, Hon. Fotofili and Hon. Fusitu'a.
The forum was organized to be in line with the Commission's mandate to hold public consultations to the two Niuas in the previous months. Oral submissions were made based on the topics covered in the Interim Report.
Commissioner, Dr. Sitiveni Halapua is currently in Niuafo'ou and will be traveling to Niuatoputapu to hold further consultations there.
The Commission's Interim Report has been widely distributed since its submission on the 5th of June. Currently, further written submissions are accepted and will close on Monday, 6th of July 2009.
