Sione Posesi Bloomfield (35), graduated with a Masters Degree from Harvard University at the school's annual graduation day on June 4.

He is the first Tongan to graduate with a Masters in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.

While Sione was at Harvard he was elected by the Kennedy School student body to head its delegation representing the school to the Harvard Graduate Council. Sione was also a Fellow of the Edward S. Mason Program and a Fellow of the Ash Institute for Innovation in Democratic Governance.

Sione attended Tonga High School until sixth form in 1991. He then entered the Australia National University and completed his BA/LLB in 1998.

Sione was a Crown Counsel for three years in Tonga's Crown Law Department, then in 2001 he became an Assistant Secretary for the Ministry of Marine and Ports in Greece. Between 2005-08 he was the Attorney General for the Marshall Islands.

Sione now hopes to return to Tonga to work in human development.

He is the son of Paula and Siosiane Bloomfield of Lakepa, Tongatapu and Lofanga, Ha‘’apai, who were in Boston to attend his graduation.
