Vava'u leads Inter College medal tally [1]

After the second day of the Inter College Sports yesterday, April 16 the Vava'u Secondary Athletic Sports team emerged on the top spot of the medal tally, with 34 medals.
On April 15, the first day of the competition, Vava'u was awarded eight medals, two of them gold and on the second day added another 20 (six were gold) putting them on the top spot with the most medals on the tally.
Tupou College followed with 28 medals after the second day of competition, Queen Salote with 23 medals, Tonga High School with 21 and Apifo'ou College with 20 medals.
The Inter College Sports kick started on April 15 is on its last day today, with finals in various track and field events drawing in a large number of spectators to the Teufaiva Outdoor Stadium.
Today's track event included the finals 100m, 3,000m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 4x100m relay. On the field were the finals in high jump, shot put, javelin and pole vault.
The winner of the 2009 Inter College Sports competition will be decided at the completion of today's finals.
