The Black Pearl Suites holiday accommodation was officially opened by the Princess Regent, Princess Pilolevu, on November 1 at Sopu 'o Taufa, toward the western end of the Nuku'alofa waterfront.

The Black Pearl offers 10 high quality holiday suites and Sosaia Moehau, the manager and owner, said that he is targeting business travellers, and tourists. He also offers a classy restaurant and a bar. The suites and and the bar and restaruant are on the first floor, with the reception is on the ground floor, along with a warehouse, and their supporting services. The construction was started in March by Sosaia 's own company King Construction. The Black Pearl is owned by Epic International Ltd., and Sosaia estimated his investment on the new accommodation to be about $1.6 million.
