A 31-year-old Tongan man Katei Taufa appeared at the Mu'a Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, February 25 charged with the murder of his wife at Vaini in the weekend.

The accused from Longoteme appeared before Police Magistrate Peau Pifeleti who ruled that his case be tried in the Nuku'alofa Supreme Court.

He therefore ordered for the murder case to be submitted straight to the Supreme Court on Wednesday, March 5. The Supreme Court would then arraign a date for his trial to begin.

The accused represented by counsel Fatai Vaihu is alleged to have murdered his 22 year old wife in Vaini on Saturday, February 21.

The accused is being detained in police custody.
