A 30-year-old man from Longoteme has been charged with murder, following an incident at the weekend, the Deputy Commander of the Tonga Police Taniela Faletau confirmed today.

He said the man is charged in relation to the death of a 22-year-old woman on Saturday, February 21 at Vaini village in Tongatapu.

The details of the incident could not be released at this point but the accused is scheduled to appear at the Mu'a Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, February 25.

The incident is alleged to have involved a knife.
