Woman charged with attempted murder [1]

A 59-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder, reported the Deputy Commander of the Tonga Police Force Taniela Faletau.

In his weekly Police Crime Report the Deputy Commander stated that the woman had also been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The woman was arrested immediately following an incident on Thursday, January 29 in Tokomololo where a pistol was fired.

The woman who resided at Haveluloto appeared before a Magistrate's Court on January 30 where a Preliminary Inquiry is scheduled for February 17.

The Deputy Commander added the accused was released on bail but is under house arrest at her Havelu home.
