The new management to take over the running of the Government owned weekly newspaper Kalonikali Tonga will be confirmed next week, according to a spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office.

Initially, the new management of the newspaper was to be ready this week but according to the Deputy Secretary of the Prime Minister's office, Paula Ma'u "there are a few details that are needed to be worked out."

Paula was hopeful that the successful applicant for the management of the Chronicle would be announced next week.

The two applicants are the Taimi News Production, the publisher of the Taimi 'o Tonga newspaper and 'Etuate Lavulavu, the founder of the 'Unuaki 'o Tonga Royal University who is also the Vava'u People's No. 1 Representative to the Tongan parliament.

Meanwhile, the latest news on the changeover coming from the Chronicle office is that before the new management takes over some of the staff will be relocated to other government departments, but some reporters will remain with the Chronicle.
