Government offices to close from Dec 23-Jan 1 [1]

The Tonga Government will officially close down for ten days for its Christmas and New Year holidays, from December 23 to January 1.

Paula Ma'u the Deputy Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office confirmed that Government offices would close down at 4:30pm on Monday December 22, their last working day for 2008. They will be back on duty at 8:30 am on Friday January 2, 2009.

However, essential government services, such as airport services and hospitals will remain in operation.

Paula said that from January 5-9, 2009, Government offices will close early at 4pm because of the Free Wesleyan Church's annual Week of Prayer.
