Maile Mataele (17) passed away at 11am today - the fifth victim of a road accident that claimed the lives of four other Liahona High School boys on the school's gradation day a week ago.
Maile's elder sister Astrid Mataele confirmed that her brother had died from brain injuries after being in a coma and on life support at Vaiola Hospital. His body has been moved to his home at Kolomotu'a and his funeral is planned for next week.
He was injured in a road accident at Lomaiviti, which also claimed the lives of George Uata, Francis Tafuna, Sailosi Paea 'Otuafi Jr and James Talanoa. There were six boys in a RAV4 vehicle, which left the road and collided with a tree.
Dean Sekona remains the only survivor of the accident.
