Water Board losing diesel oil to thieves [1]

The Taimi on October 29 reports that two women who were married to the Tu'iha'ateiho clan were prominent in casting doubts as to who fathered the present holder of the title Tu'iha'ateiho.

The water supply at Mataki'eua has been losing about $140,000 worth of diesel oil to thieves every month, according to the Tonga Water Board's head of security who is an ex-police inspector.

The Kalonikali on October 30 reports that Prince Tu'ipelehake had threatened to close down Fua'amotu Airport for non-payment of lease by the Tonga Airports Ltd.



The Talaki on October 29 reports that the Vava'u People's Representative 'Etuate Lavulavu has filed for divorce from his wife Telesia Mani Neiufi after 24 years of marriage. Application by 'Etuate for proceedings to be conducted in camera were denied.

A thirty-year old fisherman was swept out to sea by a wave at Veifefe Bay. After three days of searching without success, his family observed a day of mourning.

In an interview with the Talaki the Finance Minister Afu'alo Matoto advises Tongans to spend wisely, rely less on imported food, and utilize locally produced goods more.

Mataele Finau, who chairs the committee organizing this year's Youth Parliament, for December 10-12 insists they are not playing.

The Kele'a on October 29 quotes the Prime Minister as saying that the Auditor General had expressed to him his fears of political interference once his department was placed under the jurisdiction of parliament. But then Ha'apai People's Representative Teisina Fuko told the House that the Auditor General had informed him of his joy in working for parliament. The Kele'a wonders as to who is telling the truth.
