Tonga's official Foreign Reserves for August 2008 rose by $5.1 million to $91.3 million, following seven months of decline.

A statement from the National Reserve Bank of Tonga Reserve Bank said that the increase reflected higher official receipts for the month.

However, the August reserves are the equivalent of 3.7 months of imports, a slight improvement on July and below the equivalent of 4.4 months of imports ($97.7 million) at the same time last year.
