Digicel launches in Fiji [1]

Digicel Pacific Ltd, the fastest-growing mobile telecommunications operator in the Pacific, today announced that it has launched in Fiji, its fifth market in the Pacific, further strengthening its footprint in the region.
Digicel has expanded quickly in the Pacific and the launch of Digicel Fiji follows launches in Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Tonga and Vanuatu.
With investment of US$70 million to date in Fiji, Digicel has built a state-of-the-art network and, for the first time ever, Digicel will provide Fijians with reliable nationwide coverage , superior 24/7 customer care, a wide range of state-of-the-art handsets, and first to market high-value services.
With over 95% coverage in Fiji, Digicel Pacific aims to create a seamless pan-Pacific network that facilitates affordable communications.

Since receiving a license in Fiji in May 2008, Digicel has put together a highly trained and skilled workforce of more than 170 employees as well as creating an estimated 10,000 additional jobs through its local dealerships and partners. The company has opened 14 modern flagship stores and has more than 25,000 top-up locations across the country. The company is led by Mr. John Delves, CEO of Digicel Fiji, who has over ten years of senior management experience in some of the UK and Ireland's largest FMCG companies Greencore and The Kerry Group and most recently was CEO of Digicel Vanuatu.
Digicel's launch in Fiji has seen a build up of excitement and anticipation for the last few months. On Wednesday, October 1st, the company will hosted Fiji...s largest ever free concert featuring local artists and international star, Sean Kingston, from Jamaica, New Zealand band, KatchaFire, and several Fijian artists and dance groups.
