Selena d'Angelo (35) a professional make-up artist from Las Vegas and former part time Hawaii showgirl outsparkled Nuku'alofa's local leitis to win the 2008-09 Miss Galaxy Queen crown in Friday night's final, August 8.

The rhinestone bejewelled Selena received her prizes from the pageant's patron, Hon. Lupepau'u Tuita, at the Queen Salote Memorial Hall.

The shapely Selena came to Tonga for the Coronation and decided to enter the three night annual cross-dressing pageant organised by Joey Mataele.

"I was hired to do the make-up for the Coronation for Princess Pilolevu and her three daughters," said Selena, who is a friend of two former Miss Galaxy Queens. The Hawaiian of Japanese ethnic origin was sponsored by Jessie's Store in Nuku'alofa.

Selena, now based in Las Vegas, under her real name Selena Nakaoka, does professional make-up and hairdressing for drag shows and television, her work taking her throughout the USA and sometimes abroad. She has also done costume designing. "I used to perform in Hawaii in local shows but I was not a full on showgirl," she said.

The winner receives return tickets Tonga-Los Angeles-Tonga, a $1,000 pa'anga cash prize and gift packages.
