Mother of four killed in Vava’u domestic violence shooting [1]

A 43-year-old mother of four from ‘Utulangivaka, Vava’u, has died following a multiple shooting at her home. A teenage daughter was injured.

Her 43-year-old husband remains in Tonga Police custody as investigations continue into the domestic violence incident, on 7 May 2026, which resulted in the shooting of multiple people.

“Tonga Police extend sincere condolences to the family, children, and loved ones of the deceased during this very difficult time, especially as we approached the observance of Mother's Day tomorrow,” Tonga Police stated.

No further details about the fatal domestic violence incident have been released.

Matangi Tonga understands that a teenaged daughter (18) was injured in the shooting.
